Vauxhall Agila (08 on) - Review Review by Dan Harrison on 27 February 2008 Last Updated: 27 August 2009 The Agila is a small car that's roomy and flexible on the inside, much in the same vein as the Honda Jazz and Renault Modus. Its height makes it slightly more versatile than a traditional small car (like Vauxhall’s own Corsa) and fold-flat seats means that it has the carrying capacity of a small van. It’s available with three engines and the 1.2-litre is the pick of the bunch for a mixture of performance and economy. The Agila is actually built for Vauxhall by Suzuki, which produces its own version called the Splash. The big difference is that an equivalent Splash is better value - and comes with more standard equipment. 4 out of 5 Other Vauxhall reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery 2.5 out of 5 Buying new We recommend that you try to negotiate a healthy discount as the Agila is rather on the expensive side considering what you get for the money. While the base-level Expression model means Vauxhall can say that prices start several hundred pounds lower than a Suzuki Splash, the equivalent Splash (a 1.0 GLS) comes far better equipped which more than off sets the extra money you'd spend. If you're buying a mid to top-spec car, we'd recommend you see your local Suzuki dealer too. Play off the two dealers against each other and you could make quite a saving. These cars are covered by a minimum one-year warranty, have a multi-point inspection carried out, 30-day exchange pledge and seven day insurance cover. Expect to see plenty of low mileage cars on the private market as the Agila isn’t the sort of car that racks up the miles. The Expression is best avoided unless you're on a very tight budget though as it's very sparse inside. The mid-spec Club doesn't have air conditioning as standard - it's a £500 optional extra - so it's worth checking whether any potential purchase has it fitted or not. In fact more buyers than ever want small, efficient, cars to pay less road tax and avoid charges like the London Congestion Charge.
