Vauxhall Astra Estate (98-04) - Review Review by Parkers on 04 November 2005 The reason you see so many Astra vans pounding the fast lane is because they're excellent workhorses and the closely-related estate is no exception. It's a much better car than the early '90s car that it replaced. Changes to the suspension and chassis mean that handling and ride are far more responsive and comfortable than earlier Astra models. Even the estate is a driver's car despite its lack of image. Used prices are now very competitive for this dependable workhorse and there's a wide range of petrol and diesel engines. 3 out of 5 Other Vauxhall reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery Also Consider 3.5 out of 5 Toyota Corolla Estate (02-06) Cheap to own, solidly built Only two engines and the diesel lacks refinement Read full review 4 out of 5 Ford Focus Estate (98-04) Looks good and drives well, plenty of space, ST170 is brilliant Pricey for what you get, sales rep image Read full review 4 out of 5 Volkswagen Golf Estate (99-05) Quality, unrivalled interior, comfort, safety Passenger space, Passat is a better estate for similar money Read full review Find other estate cars Car Valuations Find used car prices with Parkers accurate car valuations.
