Volkswagen Golf Estate (07-09) - Review Review by Ben Wall on 29 October 2007 Last Updated: 28 September 2009 The estate version of the Golf wasn't introduced until three years after the hatchback came along, but it was worth waiting for. With a boot that's not much smaller than the Passat Estate, it's a surprisingly useful load carrier in a compact shape. Like the standard Golf, it's superbly built and extremely reliable as well as being refined inside with an excellent ride. Volkswagen has a good range of family cars, but the Golf Estate makes a strong case for itself, especially for those who want practicality but don't want something as big as a Passat. It's available with a good range of engines including a very economical Bluemotion TDI version. 4 out of 5 Other Volkswagen reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery Also Consider 3.5 out of 5 Peugeot 308 SW (08 on) Available with seven seats, cavernous and versatile boot, economical diesels Five-speed gearbox is poor, ungainly rear styling, other estates are better value for money, jittery ride Read full review 4 out of 5 Ford Focus Estate (05-11) Practical and cavernous boot, good to drive, well built cabin, comfortable, excellent diesels Dull looks, no clever flat folding seat system Read full review 4 out of 5 Renault Megane Sport Tourer (09 on) Attractive styling, roomy and practical interior, impressive boot space, wide range of engines Lacks the image of other compact estates Read full review Find other estate cars Car Valuations Find used car prices with Parkers accurate car valuations.
