Volkswagen Golf Plus (05-08) - Review Review by David Ross on 07 April 2006 Last Updated: 28 September 2009 The Golf Plus sits between the standard Golf hatchback and the Touran people carrier in the Volkswagen range, making it ideal for those who want a more useful alternative to a standard hatch. It's never proved as popular as the normal Golf, but this is good news if you're buying second hand as prices tend to be lower across the board. It's as good to drive and has plenty of boot space while long distance comfort is impressive. Every model gets ESP stability control, semi-automatic air conditioning, ABS, six airbags including curtain airbags, LED rear lights, electric windows, electric and heated mirrors plus a CD stereo. In April 2006 an entry-level Luna model was introduced which replaced the S. It has the same equipment but adds 15-inch alloy wheels, body coloured door handles and bumper strips, a variable boot floor, front centre armrest, rear storage box with centre armrest, automatic headlights and rain sensitive wipers. The SE has a leather-trimmed steering wheel, gearknob and handbrake, 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, alarm, multifunction computer and height adjustable front seats. The Sport adds sports suspension (lower by 15mm), front sports seats and front fog lights. In 2007 a Dune model was launched which has a raised ride height, black body cladding, front and rear underbody protection.
