Well built and reliable, cheaper and smaller alternative to a Passat, good choice of engines

Not as practical as a Golf, dull image, noisy TDI engines
Volkswagen has returned to the original Jetta name for its smaller family saloon, relegating the previous Vento and Bora names to history. While the Golf influence is obvious from the front and from behind the wheel, the rear has much in common with the upmarket Passat and it's a good alternative to the larger four-door. The Jetta is good to drive in all its engine variations, and can squeeze three passengers into the rear quite comfortably. It has a huge boot and is quite handsome, but still won't hold its value as well as an equivalent Golf. However, this makes it a good used buy.
