Volvo C70 Coupé (97-02) - Review

Review by Parkers on
Volvo's glamarous coupe was discontinued in 2002, after five years in production (although the cabriolet carried on). This model broadened Volvo's appeal, adding a sexy coupe to a range consisting of dutiful saloons and estates. The underpinnings are tried-and-tested; they've come from the old S70 saloon, which has kept reliability. It's a good used buy, but not as glam as it once was.

Comfort

The Coupe has more than enough room for four adults. They sit in some comfort, too. Nice interior with some sophisticated materials and the kind of quality of finish you expect from. The materials used are softer and warmer than other Volvos of this age. It performs well over long distances on the motorway, where it's relaxed and quiet.

Practicality

If you've opted for electric seats, you may find that they're slow when it comes to accessing the rear. The boot is big, but the seats can't be folded or tumbled, making it difficult to carry awkwardly-shaped loads. There are a few cabin cubby bins for oddments.

Behind the wheel

The height-adjustable seat and steering wheel make for a comfortable driving position; electric seats are optional. Like all modern Volvos, the interior is clear and the controls easy to use. Good all-round visibility.
