Volvo S80 (98-05) - Review

Review by Parkers on
Volvo's executive class saloon is a worthy rival to the German class leaders. With excellent equipment and a beautifully designed cabin, the S80 is incredibly sophisticated, safe, subtle and sleek. To emphasise its market position, there's not even an estate version. Like Saab, Volvo has maintained its individuality and solid Swedish sensibilities, but not at the expense of style.

Comfort

Lots of room up front and in the back, seats are very comfortable and it's generally a very friendly environment. Superbly trimmed.

Practicality

One of the few Volvos that isn't available as an estate, the S80 still has a boot big enough boot for most needs.

Behind the wheel

It's all very sensible, comfortable and functional. Nothing flash or overtly stylistic, but very easy to get along with and great to spend plenty of time in.
