Most economical Citroen C4 Picasso running costs belong to the e-HDi 90 Airdream diesel variant. With the semi-auto ETG6 gearbox it can average a claimed 74mpg and emits an impressive 98g/km of CO2, making for extremely low VED road tax costs.

One of the most popular engines is expected to be the e-HDi 115 diesel unit. This emits 105g/km (with a manual gearbox – the ETG version emits 104g/km) and can average a little over 70mpg (claimed).

The lowest CO2 emissions belong to the e-HDi 90 Airdream diesel variant. With the semi-auto ETG6 gearbox it emits an impressive 98g/km of CO2, which Citroen says is a record for a car of this type.

Gains in aerodynamics, engine efficiency and weight (the new Picasso is 140kg lighter than the car it replaces) have helped to improve Citroen C4 Picasso emissions by an average of 30g/km across the range as a whole.

Since the car has only just been launched, it’s a little early to make assumptions about Citroen C4 Picasso reliability. It’s based upon an all new platform but the engines have already seen service in a variety of Citroen and Peugeot products without any well-known problems.
