An all-new version of the Mazda5 is due to arrive in showrooms this autumn, offering increased interior flexibility and more efficient engine options.

The small people carrier will feature an all-new exterior and interior, with sleeker styling and higher quality materials used inside.

It will feature twin sliding rear side doors to aid practicality and sector-leading rear legroom in the second and third row of seats.

Two engine options will be available: a 1.8-litre petrol with 115bhp, fuel economy of 39mpg and CO2 emissions of 168g/km.

The other engine option is a 2.0-litre petrol equipped with start/stop technology. This 150bhp unit returns economy of almost 41mpg and emits 159g/km of CO2.

Standard equipment includes air-conditioning, six airbags, electronic brake force distribution, a stereo with Aux-in socket and electric windows and mirrors.

Prices will be announced closer to the model's launch, with prices expected to start at around £18,000.
