Volvo has revealed revised DRIVe versions of the S40 Saloon and V50 Estate with CO2 emissions down to an impressive 99g/km.
The two models now join the C30 in the 13% company car tax band, and they also have a claimed fuel economy of 74mpg.
The latest improvements could also mean good news for buyers in London. With new proposals to make the congestion charge exempt for any cars under 100g/km both models would qualify.
The C30, S40 and V50 DRIVe models are the first to get the upgraded 1.6-litre diesel engine that comes with a six-speed manual gearbox and start/stop.
Volvo is also planning to introduce low emitting DRIVe versions of the new S60 and V60 models in 2011.
