Scirocco gains more efficient 1.4 TSI

Volkswagen is offering a new entry level version of the Scirocco priced at £18,860 on the road.

The car features a 122bhp turbocharged 1.4-litre engine allowing the car to accelerate from 0-62mph in 9.7 seconds.

The new 1.4 TSI slots into the range below the 160bhp 1.4 TSI, and with the less powerful engine produces 147lb-ft of torque, but still somes with a six-speed manual gearbox.

Standard equipment includes a six-CD changer with iPod preparation, automatic headlamps and rain-sensing windscreen wipers, a trip computer, air conditioning and 17-inch alloy wheels. Safety equipment includes standard electronic stability control and six airbags.

Adaptive chassis control (ACC) which allows drivers to choose different settings for the dampers to improve the car's behaviour, is available as an option.

Customers can also shoose a new styling kit for GT versions of the Scirocco. The Lugano Black pack includes 19-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels finished in gloss black, with gloss black inserts in the cabin.
