Saab has revealed pricing for its new 9-5 saloon range which opens for ordering this week, with prices rising by almost £7,000 on certain models.

The entry level 9-5 2.0 TiD 160PS Vector SE diesel costs £26,495 - up from the £19,730 charged for the current cheapest 9-5 diesel saloon. The base petrol version, the 1.6T 180PS Vector SE, is £26,695 - a £6,965 increase on the current equivalent model.

The price increases bring the 9-5 directly in line with the Audi A6 and new BMW 5 Series.

The 9-5 will be available in Vector SE and Aero trim levels with the choice of 158bhp and 187bhp 2.0-litre diesel engines and three petrol units: a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol with 178bhp, a 2.0-litre with 217bhp and a 2.8-litre with 296bhp.

The top-spec 2.8T Aero with four-wheel drive costs £37,995.

All 9-5s come with part-leather seats, MP3 compatible stereo, Bluetooth, heated front seats, keyless ignition, parking sensors front and rear, rain sensing wipers, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control and cruise control.

Aero versions add 19-inch alloy wheels, deeper front and rear bumpers, bi-xenon headlights and leather seats.
