Volvo has revealed details of its all-new S60 model which will be taking on the Audi A4 and BMW 3-Series in the junior executive market.

Available to order now with deliveries scheduled to begin in July, the S60 comes with a range of new engines, a raft of safety systems and a promise of improved driving dynamics.

The range is priced from £23,295 to £36,745 and comes in three trim levels: ES, SE and SE Lux.

Engine options at launch are a new 2.0-litre five-cylinder diesel D3 with 163bhp, offering fuel economy of 54mpg, while a twin-turbo D5 diesel with 205bhp returns 53mpg.

Topping the range is the T6 featuring a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine producing 304bhp.

Standard on all models is City Safety, which automatically brakes the car from speeds up to 15mph if the car in front stops. In addition, Whiplash Protection System and Side Impact Protection System are standard.

Also available as a £1,350 option is an advanced radar-based safety system which detects any object in front of the car and, if necessary, bring the car to a stop with no driver involvement.
