Peugeot's hotter hot hatch

Peugeot is celebrating its 200th anniversary with a more powerful version of its range-topping 308 model.

The 308 GT THP 200 features a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine delivering 200bhp. The engine returns claimed average fuel economy of nearly 41mpg while CO2 emissions of 159g/km put it in the 20% company car tax banding.

Performance is 0-62mph in 7.7 seconds slightly quicker than standard GT thouugh it shares the same top speed of 140mph.

To mark the 200bhp model apart from lesser versions, it comes with deeper airdams, rear spoiler and twin chrome exhaust pipes, while inside are sports seats, aluminium pedals and gearlever, leather steering wheel and a black lacquer fascia finish.
