The BMW 3 Series is the most reliable company car available right now.

According to the annual FN50 survey commissioned by sister title Fleet News, the highly acclaimed new 3 Series tops the charts ahead of the Volkswagen Golf and the Audi A4.

The survey takes a sample of nearly 600,000 cars from 50 of the UK’s biggest contract hire and leasing companies. This year’s top 10 most reliable car results were dominated by German and Japanese firms, with Ford the only manufacturer nudging into the list from other countries.

BMW has also taken the top spot in the manufacturer battle, placing ahead of Audi and Honda. Skoda is the biggest grid mover, jumping from tenth to seventh in 12 months. Lexus has dropped out of the top 10, while Volvo has moved up into 10th position.

Executives at BMW are understandably pleased with the double win. Tim Abbott, managing director at BMW UK, said: “To have three of our biggest selling cars in the top ten is a fantastic achievement and our customers will take great heart from realising they not only drive a class-leading car in terms of efficiency and driving pleasure but also one that is the most reliable too.”
