A new diesel engine has joined the SsangYong Tivoli range and is available to order now.

The newly developed 1.6-litre powertrain produces 113bhp with 300Nm of torque, which can accelerate the car from 0-62mph in 12 seconds and can be paired with either a six-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic gearbox.

As well as being compliant with the latest Euro6 legislation, the Tivoli when fitted with this new diesel engine can tow up to 1,500kg, unlike petrol models which can tow 1,000kg of braked weight.

Later in the year four-wheel drive diesel options will be added to the range. For now though if you need off-road capability petrol is your only choice.

It’s the new two-wheel drive, manual diesel Tivoli, which will be the most tax efficient for company car drivers, emitting 113g/km of CO2 placing the car in a 20 percent BIK tax band for the current 2015/16 year. If equipped with the automatic gearbox CO2 rises to 146g/km, which places the Tivoli into a 27 BIK tax band for the current year.

Although not class-leading for CO2 emissions, the Tivoli’s low p11d prices help keep monthly tax bills low. Prices start from £14,145 for the two-wheel drive manual diesel which will cost a 20 percent tax payer as little as £47 per month.

In terms of fuel economy the Tivoli diesel achieves up to 65.7mpg on the combined cycle with the manual transmission and 51.4mpg for the automatic.

Available to buy in three trim levels; SE, EX and ELX, standard kit includes 16-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth, air-con and cruise control. Moving up to EX trim adds leather upholstery, 18-inch alloys, dual zone climate control, a seven-inch touchscreen multimedia system, rear view camera, heated front seats, front fog lights and a luggage load cover.

Top of the range ELX features diamond cut alloy wheels, keyless start, front and rear parking sensors, privacy glass, rear spoiler, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers and sat-nav.
