Skoda is continuing the expansion of its sporty flagship Octavia vRS line-up with a specification boost and the introduction of a new 4×4 transmission option which will arrive in the UK later this year.

Offered with the 2.0 TDI 181bhp diesel engine, the vRS’s four-wheel drive system is coupled to a six-speed DSG automatic gearbox as standard, the system constantly monitors traction at each wheel and can direct power to whichever axle requires it on demand.

Crucial for company car drivers will be the 129g/km of CO2 produced from the hatchback or 131g/km for the estate meaning a 23 percent or 24 percent BIK tax band for the 2015/16 tax year.

Available to order from November 1, P11D prices for the Octavia vRS 4×4 will start from £27,260 for the Hatch and £28,460 for the Estate. That means monthly tax costs for this year could be as low as £104.49 a month for a 20 percent tax payer.

There’s been a small price hike of £400 across the entire vRS range, however sat-nav is now available as standard which previously cost £755 as an option, offering a saving of £355.

The 4×4 models can sprint from zero to 62mph in 7.6 seconds with a torque output of 380Nm available between 1,750 and 3,250rpm.

As well as sat-nav now available, standard specification on these models will include 18-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights, sports suspension, Bluetooth, sports seats, parking sensors and dual-zone climate control with humidity sensor.

For the estate version you also get roof rails and a rear seat release to make loading bigger items a little easier.

We’re big fans of the vRS and think as a package, it’s pretty hard to beat, plus it shares much of its chassis design with the Golf GTi, which means it handles very well too.

Engineering highlights in the vRS range include multi-link suspension and electronic differential lock XDS+ for dynamic cornering, progressive steering and numerous assistance systems for enhanced safety and comfort. The vRS also features a design package that includes unique bumpers, spoiler and interior detailing.
