Honda has announced pricing details for the new third generation Jazz hatchback which goes on sale in September. It brings an enhanced exterior design, more kit as standard and a frugal new petrol engine.
P11D prices start from £13,440 rising to £17,370 for the flagship EX Navi CVT model.
Stealing the majority of the headlines is a new 1.3 litre i-VTEC petrol engine from Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology series which offers 100bhp and can be combined with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a newly developed CVT automatic transmission.
Crucial for company car drivers, CO2 emissions are as low as 106g/km meaning a 16 percent BIK tax band for the current 2015/16 tax year while combined fuel economy is a claimed 61.4mpg.
It’s available to buy in three trims – S, SE and EX – and standard kit in entry S models includes air-con, cruise control, automatic lights and Honda’s City-Brake Active system to help avoid low-speed accidents.
Moving up to SE adds front and rear parking sensors, electric heated door mirrors and 15-inch alloy wheels. Honda’s Driver Assistance Safety Pack is also included which incorporates a forward collision warning system, traffic sign recognition, a lane departure warning system and high beam assist.
Those opting for the top-grade EX model will gain keyless entry and start, automatic climate control and six-speaker audio upgrade. Styling is enhanced with 16-inch alloy wheels and front fog lamps.
Company car drivers who choose SE or EX models will also benefit from the Honda Connect in-car infotainment system as standard which features an app-based ‘pinch, swipe and tap‘ interface accessed on a seven-inch touchscreen and includes internet-based services such as web browsing, real-time traffic information, news and weather, social media, and internet music stations.
Overall length has increased by 95mm which means the latest Jazz is bigger on the inside than the previous generation, plus the new model retains Honda’s Magic Seat system which allows for numerous cargo configurations and a maximum interior loading length of 2,480mm.
Over five million Jazz have found homes worldwide since it was introduced in 2001 and the new model signals the fourth of five new or refreshed models from the Japenese firm to come to Europe this year.
