Good news for long commutes – Renault has added a free digital radio upgrade to all but the cheapest Clio and Captur models.
Previously a cost option, the inclusion of DAB on all cars fitted with either MediaNav or R-Link infotainment systems means dozens of high-quality radio stations at your fingertips.
There is no price increase and only entry level cars that don’t feature these infotainments systems have been missed out from the changes to standard specification.
MediaNav and R-Link systems upgraded
On top of this the newly redesigned MediaNav systems gains Bluetooth streaming, TMC traffic information and SIRI Eyes-Free pairing for compatible iPhones.
Updates to the R-Link system include a clearer and more sensitive screen which allows gesture controls including the intuitive pinch-to-zoom type used by smartphones.
This update means you can have a Clio or Captur company car without having to add DAB radio to your monthly bills.
Low-cost company cars from Renault
A Clio with a 0.9-litre petrol engine costs £34 a month in BIK tax, providing you choose the newly renamed “play” trim.
This takes over from the previously titled Expression+ level, and brings the Clio range into line with the Twingo.
Pick a Dynamique S Nav car and you’ll benefit from a new-look leather steering wheel and grey upholstery.
There’s also a selection of personalisation options including coloured 16-inch and 17-inch alloy wheels, plus exterior and interior packs.
We like the styling of the Clio which only comes in five-door form, but hides its back door handles in the rear quarter lights.
It also drives well thanks to a 100kg weight loss over the old car, something that goes towards lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
More practical Captur
You can pick the Captur in one of four trim levels and there’s a choice of two petrol and two diesel engines.
Choose Dynamic Nav trim with the same 0.9-litre engine as the Clio above and this will cost £43 a month.
The Captur looks similar to the Clio but offers a raised ride height and chunkier styling. You sit in an elevated driving position which makes it easier to read the road ahead too.
