Jaguar has added an all-wheel drive (AWD) model to the successful XE line-up which is available to order now.
Fitted exclusively with the firm’s four-cylinder 2-litre diesel engine and eight-speed automatic transmission, the addition of Jaguar’s all-wheel drive system aims to broaden the XE’s appeal even further and rival cars like the BMW 3 Series xDrive saloon and Audi A4 quattro saloon.
Crucial for company car drivers will be the 123g/km of CO2 that this car produces, placing the XE AWD in a 22 percent BIK tax band for the 2015/16 tax year. Fuel economy also impresses at a claimed 60.6mpg combined, while the 178bhp and 430Nm of torque enable the car to accelerate from 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds.
Like the all-new XF saloon and F-Pace, the XE uses a torque-on-demand AWD system which instantly adapts the transition from rear-drive to all-wheel drive. How much torque is transferred, and when, is determined by the Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD) system thar estimates when the rear axle is approaching the limit of available traction.
You can also opt to include the Adaptive Surface Response for a premium, which adapts the maps of the throttle, transmission and electronic stability (DSC) system according to the type of surface for further all-wheel capabilities.
All-wheel drive versions of the XE are available to buy in four of the five trims in the range; SE, Prestige, R-Sport and Portfolio with P11D prices starting from £33,770.
Also big news for the XE range is the addition of Jaguar’s next-generation infotainment system, called InControl Touch Pro, which is available as an upgrade over the current eight-inch touchscreen system. Designed around a larger tablet-style 10.2-inch touchscreen, the new system includes an advanced sat-nav system, a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to eight devices and a digital surround-sound system including 17 speakers.
The Jaguar XE is manufactured at Jaguar Land Rover’s Solihull Plant alongside the all-new F-Pace.
