Vauxhall has confirmed that the next-generation Astra Sports Tourer will arrive in the UK from March 2016 with P11D prices up to £1,870 cheaper than the model it replaces, starting from £16,530.

Hot on the heels of the five-door hatch, the new Sports Tourer is being built at Vauxhall’s manufacturing plant in Ellesmere Port and will be available in six trims: Design, Tech Line, SRi and Elite; plus Nav versions of the latter two which include sat-nav.

Standard equipment is generous across the range with all cars being equipped with 16-inch alloys, black roof rails, seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and DAB digital radio, air-con and cruise control.

Likely to be a popular choice with company car drivers will be the mid-range Tech Line trim which features technology ideal for business drivers including sat-nav, a leather-covered steering wheel, six speakers and an upgraded eight-inch centre console screen.

If you’re looking for ultimate luxury, top-of-the-range Elite trim comes with a host of extras including 17-inch alloys, dual-zone climate control, leather interior and Vauxhall Onstar – the firm’s new concierge service.

There’ll be a variety of engines to choose from including the 1-litre, three-cylinder ecoFLEX petrol seen elsewhere in the Vauxhall range. This achieves CO2 output as low as 96g/km, meaning a 16 percent BIK tax band for the 2016/17 tax year.

Crucial for many company car drivers will be the 1.6-litre ‘Whisper’ diesel that achieves 85.6mpg and CO2 emissions of 86g/km making it one of the lowest-emitting in its class and slotting into a 15 percent BIK tax band from April next year.

More details of the new Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer are expected to be revealed closer to the official launch date in March. Parkers will be one of the first to drive the new car, so make sure you check back with us to read our full Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer review.
