The Ford Focus has been the UK’s most popular new car almost every month for seven years, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get a great deal, and now is the time to look for bargains.

A revised version of the Focus arrived in showrooms early in 2007. Changes include a new-look front end, and some smarter pieces of trim inside, but little else is different from the version of the car launched in 2005.

Some dealers have examples of the outgoing Focus, already registered to themselves, but with delivery mileage on the clock, and substantial discounts over new prices.

It means you’re getting a ‘new’ car, but will be a second owner and will lose some months off the three-year warranty.

We found a dozen cars advertised nationwide with prices around the £8000-£9000 mark when official list prices are upwards of £12,000.

And don’t forget to try to haggle or ask if anything else can be thrown in for free.

The outgoing Focus is a top quality product and is good to drive, so there has never been a better time to buy one.
