Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 29 - 46 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Avoid the petrol engines (which are rare anyway) and go for a diesel if you want to keep costs down. Servicing is reasonable at Fiat dealers but the quality of customer care often falls short of what you’d expect.

The best model in the range is the 1.9-litre Multijet with 120bhp. It emits 160g/km of CO2 and will return 46mpg

The MultiJet diesel engines are strong and have so far not given any cause for major concern in the other models in which they have been used. However, as is often the case in Fiat, we’ve heard of niggling and repetitive faults from owners – particularly in terms of electrics and engine management.
