What does this car say about you?

I put my pre-conceptions aside and drove one. I might know something about them that someone who hasn't driven one doesn't...

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Friends were unsure. Until they drove it. And it convinced them of its merits. Family rolled their eyes and clutched their heads. Neighbours don't care what I drive unless it's more expensive than their vehicle.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, as a second car for cheap fun or as a Track-day project.

What are you likely to buy next?

Something bigger. The kids.don't really fit in the rear very well any more.

    What's it like to drive?

Not the pinnacle of straight-line speed or acceleration, but no slouch either. The whole is a well-balanced package, though. A great combination of relatively light weight, plenty of grip, good handling and a smooth and synergistic powertrain. Belies both its Fiesta heritage and "hairdresser car" tag, and can comfortably embarrass supposedly "better" and faster cars in terms of cornering and braking. The speed-sensitive PAS is the unsung hero of the car. Loads of feedback and feel, weighted perfectly at any given speed. A proper driver's car, and very well sorted, even in unmodified form. Good tyres and properly adjusted tracking are essential to get the best out of it.

    What's it like to park?

Limited visibility, but so small it doesn't really matter. About the same as a Fiesta, in fact.

Have you had any problems with the car?

Front dampers and tyres were worn when purchased. Tracking was off when purchased.

What's most practical about your car?

It has a relatively large boot for class of car. Economy can be acceptable if you don't push it. Parts and servicing are relatively straightforward and inexpensive due to commonality with contemporary Fiesta.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Mine came with the "winter pack" The heated screen works a treat on cold days. The heated mirrors are good too and activate when you engage the heated rear screen.
