The Accord was awarded the maximum five-stars for adult safety by Euro NCAP, along with an impressive four stars for child safety. It’s available with features such as adaptive cruise control (which can maintain a set distance with the vehicle in front) and a lane keeping assist feature which nudges the steering wheel back into line if the car strays too far away from the centre of the lane on the motorway (although it is over-ridden when changing lanes).

There’s also an anti collision feature which warns the driver of an impending accident (by tugging the seatbelt and chiming a warning) and begins braking with up to 90% of maximum pedal force.

Luggage capacity has improved by only a few litres over the previous Accord saloon, and the intrusion from the suspension means the space tapers to a fairly narrow area near the rear seats. The opening is narrow too but at least the rear seats split 60/40 and can be folded forward to increase storage. Interior storage is adequate, with good sized door bins and storage in the front armrest.
