Hyundai i40 Tourer review

Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

I wanted a family wagon that wouldn't break the bank and be economical to run. A colleague had just bought an i40 wagon, I saw one at the dealership in West Belfast, paid £10k for a 3 year old white 1.7 136bhp Style trim with 42k on the clock. The optional 17" alloys set it apart from other cars. The steering is light and it's incredibly easy to drive. I get approx 40mpg around the city though I cannot understand why I struggle to get anywhere near 50mpg on the highway. It's a long car and the standard front and rear parking sensors and rear view camera make parking easy, though the sensors are sensitive, my front ones are currently switched off as they've been constantly beeping. I don't imagine there will be any issue when it goes in for a service. If I'm being critical about the car the drive, although supremely comfortable doesn't quite match have the looks, I guess those who buy a wagon don't really want to take it to a track day! The lack of permanent clock on display, very bright sat nav/media screen which cannot be dimmed and hopeless head light bulbs are my only gripes. My sister has a Mercedes E Class which cost over 4 times what I paid for my car, it's mine which is admired more and looks much better parked next to the ubiquitous German barge. Not sure that I'd buy another i40 Tourer when it comes to change in about 3 years but I'd seriously consider another Hyundai, possibly an SUV, I like the brand, like the warranty, like the dealership and like value for money.

How reliable do you find the car?

Car was pulling to one side shortly after I got it, the service department at the dealership were superb, diagnosed a faulty suspension strut and sorted it.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

I think the Tourer is a good looking wagon, the 5 year warranty and service from the dealership in West Belfast has been very impressive.
