What does this car say about you?

A total stranger walked up to me as I got out of my Jaguar and said (as he passed) "Easy seeing someone's got plenty of money". The car doesn't say as much, but it does hug me every time I get in it and is like getting into the cockpit of a space-craft as it electronically adjusts the steering and seating to settle me in AND moves to let me easily get out! So I would say it says I am a bit special!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Everyone who has been in it likes it, even strangers comment!

Would you buy this car again and why?

Only if I could afford it, definitely.

What are you likely to buy next?

I did want a Hyundai Sonata Automatic (Having loved to own 2 previously), but the UK version of the Sedan Sonata is not as good. The i40 saloon auto is not as powerful or smooth to drive as the old V6 Sonata.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £9,000

When did you buy the car?

    November 2010

Did you get a good deal and why?

No. I got virtually nothing for my Trade in car. But the car was very nice despite a few flaws: Air con faulty, no radio code, missing cigarette lighter, missing vanity mirror parts.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

It had lots of nice features and was very comfortable to drive.

    What was the dealer like?

The dealer promised various things prior to sealing the deal and after full payment and collection/trade in, I was again promised certain things. 3 months of constant asking about the promised things and I never got ANY satisfaction. Arnold Clark After sales seemed to all bend over backwards to AVOID helping on their promises. Promises were NOT delivered.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Comfortable, fast, reliable, sits on road well, great on long motorway drives. Always feels great getting into this car. Looks very nice too.

    What's it like to park?

Rear visibility is poor, mirrors create illusion of accuracy and you end up parking squint all the time. You need to turn your head and sometimes open door when reversing. Sensors front and back seem to only sometimes work!

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

ABS system has dogged me from 3 years owning the car. It cost a fortune to fix and still went wrong 3 more times! The battery was replaced but still there is a battery warning light on the dashboard.

What's most practical about your car?

For a 2.7 it seems very economical : 40mpg. I discovered it has it's own service mode built in diagnostic test system. Though no-one or even Jaguar experts seem to know the meaning of the fault codes!

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Electric self adjusting hugging seats and steering rack. Sat Nav.
