In their own words

Always fancied a Jag but was put off by Jag-badged Mondeos. Then Mr. Tata bought the marque, gave the designers and development engineers free reign and transformed the product. I bought an XF 4 years ago and loved it. A couple of years later I wanted to upgrade and bought a top-of-the-range Portfolio with every bell-and-whistle possible with 6,300 miles on the clock! What a super car. The aluminium body makes it taught and tight, compared to steel, and I have yet to find a corner where I don't bottle out before the car. It's a 3-litre supercharged petrol engine - lively, with a fast-response, and sewing-machine-smooth. Yes - the consumption is rubbish - 26 mpg. However I reckon that costs me about £750 pa on 10,000 miles v a German diesel. Why would you buy a luxury car if you were fussed about £750? (By the way, diesels / Ni2 emissions kill or shorten the life of an estimated 23,500 people a year in the UK). I have had 4 BMW's and one Merc and they were very efficient and Teutonically reliable. - Sehr gut: but they don't have the style, the panache or the fun of the XJ. Being politically incorrect, the Messerschmit was an outstanding, sturdy, well-engineered plane - but the Spitfire... Mein Gott!!!
