• Summary

What does this car say about you?

That I am prepared to think a bit differently and want a bit of fun and enjoyment from one of the family daily runners.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Renegade styling will not suit the traditionalists so it will not have universal appeal. A fund departure from our other car (a more sober BMW saloon) and a refreshing change from all the Mini/Nissan/Skoda cross-over fare which so many others seem to opt for.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Only a few weeks in to ownership but yes I would. The space, visibility and looks all make every journey refreshingly different from others in this class I've tried. Its well equipped, comfortable and practical. All round its great value for money.

What are you likely to buy next?

Next purchase will be a replacement for our other daily runner (BMW 3 Series) and I am likely to replace it with something from the same model range.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £16,000

When did you buy the car?

    January 2016

Did you get a good deal and why?

The deal was very enticing with a hefty discount from list price. The car was pre-registered with only delivery miles and the dealer was keen to shift stock to make room for new.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Downsizing and as a car for learner driver in family to practice in.

    What was the dealer like?

Like most volume sales dealers. Keen to close the deal as soon as possible so was fairly responsive when it came to minor changes/queries on the final deal.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

I'm finding driving around town or on longer journeys quite a smile inducing experience. Controls are light and you feel like you can make brisk progress. View over the angular bulge in the bonnet reminds you this is a Jeep. For a relatively small car it has a bit of presence.

    What's it like to park?

Big mirrors and windows make all-round visibility pretty good. Squared off front and rear ends may not be to everyone's taste but you do know where the car begins and ends. Rear parking sensors are helpful and not overly nagging like some.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

So far the car has been rock solid. I read reviews and owners forum tales that did make me doubt some aspects of quality but have been pleasantly surprised how it feels and by the thought that has gone into certain design aspects.

What's most practical about your car?

Car is a replacement for a Honda CR-V and whilst we wanted something smaller we didn't want to compromise too much on passenger space. Have to say the Renegade feels like a almost as big car on the inside as the Honda.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Electric panoramic sunroof is something the family wanted and it certainly floods the car with light, giving a real out-door experience.
