On all petrol engines, the numerical name refers to the bhp the engine produces, hence the 120 has a 120bhp 1.8 four-cylinder unit. Next up is the turbocharged 1.8 litre 160 followed by the 180, which is a V6 fitted only with an automatic gearbox. The 190 is also a V6, this time with a tad more power and a manual gearbox. King of the hill is the 260 which actually uses a 4.6 litre Ford V8 to deliver the goods along with a sound track that Steve McQueen would have approved of.

With one exception, the ZT range is front-wheel driven. All are set-up to corner with minimal body-roll and change direction in a confidence inspiring and surefooted manner. Traction control is not fitted but it doesn’t really seem to need it. The exception is the 260 with not only runs a V8, but has also undergone an extensive re-engineering exercise so that it powers its rear wheels instead of the fronts.

You’ll be glad to know that this configuration does get traction control although you’ll only need it in slippery conditions.
