Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 28 - 34 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Galant went off sale in 2003, so has now done the large chunk of its depreciating. Other costs are reasonably bearable. Mitsubishi offered an extensive warranty, the running costs are generally low and you shouldn’t have to refuel too frequently. The Galant is well specced – so you can expect a generous helping of equipment for your money – although repairs and servicing can be a little pricey.

All Japanese manufacturers are highly regarded for their dependability, and Mitsubishi are no different; the Galant has been consistently highly rated in reliability surveys.
