Like I don't care about image.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Have carried three passengers regularly and they quite like the space.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No, gone out of production, current Nissan range isn't to my taste and have recently traded the Almera in for a 58 plate Fiesta from the same dealer.

What are you likely to buy next?

Already traded in for a 58 plate Ford Fiesta 1.25.

Needed a cheap, reliable car for work

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

Performs quite well, but can get noisy above 70 mph. Generally, though, for the money a fairly competent car on the open road and handles well.

    What's it like to park?

    Quite easy.

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Gearbox went at 20,000 miles- done under warranty but still unexpected. Possibly the car led a hard life with the previous owner in a city. Apart from being ripped off for parts that weren't needed by a fast fit chain during a service, the Almera has otherwise proved reliable. However, drab, scratchy interior looks cheap and a few trim rattles are appearing.

What's most practical about your car?

Large boot for its size and plenty of space for passengers.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The traffic alert on the radio- very useful on a long journey.
