Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 38 - 54 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Peugeot RCZ running costs are actually pretty good, especially if you opt for the diesel model. This 2.0-litre 163bhp engine emits only 137g/km and on average should return over 53mpg. Even the petrol models should be relatively cheap to run, the THP 200 still managing 155g/km and over 40mpg despite its 7.6 second 0-62mph time.

Servicing and rates are affordable but although Peugeot dealers are getting better, the customer satisfaction tables suggest there is still some work to do. Insurance groups are reasonable and start at 28E and rise to 34E.

Peugeot RCZ emissions are generally pretty good, regardless of which model you choose.

And while it’s the 139g/km diesel that boasts the lowest figure for this, we think the 155g/km 200THP offers the best compromise considering its performance. Otherwise the 156THP manages to emit only 149g/km.

Peugeot RCZ reliability would once have been considered an achilles heel, but the firm has made some recent moves in the right direction. The engines are shared with plenty of other Peugeot models and even some other brands without any major horror stories emerging.

Dealers still don’t have the same reputation for quality and attention to detail though and some of the interior switchgear could feel slightly more robust.
