What is miles per pound?

Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 27 - 35 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Porsche Cayman running costs aren’t exactly the lowest in the world. Average fuel economy is best when you choose the 275bhp 2.7-litre version. It returns 36mpg, which means you should get around the high 20s mark in real-world driving.

The 325bhp 3.4-litre is claimed to return 35mpg on average – again expect to see high 20s in real world driving. That’s pretty impressive seeing as the 3.4-litre engine has 50bhp more than the 2.7.

Porsche Cayman emissions are fairly low for a car with sporting intentions, but compared to family cars they do leave a little to be desired. The 275bhp 2.7-litre Cayman Coupe has the lowest CO2 emissions with an output of 180g/km. Pick the 325bhp Cayman S with the 3.4-litre flat-six cylinder engine and it emits a whopping 206g/km.
