Other SEAT Leon (2013 - 2020) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

Can't afford an A4 but doesn't look too budget, with some style and sportiness.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Great. Interior not the most exciting but good performance, boot space, extras & tech. They would not choose for carrying dogs due to steeply sloped rear screen and therefore lack of shade.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No, mainly due to the poor economy - I don't expect to match claimed figures, and 50mpg may sound reasonable, but that includes steady motorway miles and could get 60mpg in equivalent 10yr old A3. Poor satnav - slow, no way to manually redirect to avoid jams, doesn't pick quickest routes, traffic info pointless. Too many gremlins in audio/nav unit and steering wheel controls - eg: unresponsive switches, switch to radio and volume resets to zero. Dealers says not faults, just poor design/tech. No 'headlights on' light.

What are you likely to buy next?

Depends on budget at the time - Octavia/Passat/A4/Focus/Mazda3 wagon?/CX5.

  • Buying experience

    4 out of 5 4.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £0

When did you buy the car?

    July 2015

Did you get a good deal and why?

    (Company car).

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Needed a quality estate on company car scheme, without the budget for A4 or similar. Owned 1st generation Leon a while back - very good car, was hoping the dealerships had improved.

    What was the dealer like?

Dealer supplying vehicle provided good service. Unfortunately local dealer as useless as I remembered a previous one to be.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Great handing, acceleration and speed. Couldn't afford higher bhp version but not necessary. Economy disappointing - could get 20% more on same commute in 10yr old A3 of similar spec (but heavier).

    What's it like to park?

Fine - reasonable visibility and sensors all round.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Dealer fitted off the shelf towbar, but it wouldn't play nicely with the electrics and messed up the audio/nav unit - sounds like a VW Group issue as problems with Golfs as well. Took a long time to resolve, finally fitting factory approved one, but even then some poor workmanship.

What's most practical about your car?

Boot space (altough wasted space beneath spare wheel), sensors.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

DSG (also had on last car), bluetooth. Missing? Rotary controller for audio/nav - much more user friendly, and to keep up with competition.
