Depending on which engine you go for Skoda Yeti running costs can be very low. The 1.8 TSI is probably best avoided if you want outright economy as it returns 35mpg compared to up to 61mpg in the diesels.
Insurance ratings are low with most models group 3 or 4, although the 2.0 TDI 170 and 1.8 TSI Elegance models are group 9. Skoda servicing is good value too and the dealers have an excellent reputation for looking after customers.
Buyers who cover lots of miles, or are looking to seriously cut their fuel bills, should probably consider the two-wheel drive Greenline II model. It's claimed to return an average economy of 61.4mpg.

The Yeti uses engines and components which have been well proven in other Volkswagen Group products. As a result it's very reliable and robust, while Skoda performs very well in customer satisfaction surveys. Recalls are also very rare.
