Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 34 - 39 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

There’s no escaping that SsangYong Turismo running costs are high, despite the limited diesel-only engine range.

At 34.9mpg the EX version with automatic transmission and four-wheel drive is the least fuel efficient version.

With a lack of start/stop function, a heavy body and a lack of aerodynamic efficiency the manual-gearboxed 2.0-litre e-XDi S and ES versions only muster 37.2mpg.

It comes as little surprise that those same characteristics ensure that SsangYong Turismo emissions are relatively high, the most polluting 2.0-litre e-XDi EX 4WD rated at 212g/km of CO2.

The greenest in the range are the 2.0-litre e-XDi S and ES models measuring 199g/km.

Seven-seater people carrier customers can expect good levels of SsangYong Turismo reliability from the newcomer.

While some of the materials used to construct the interior feel not especially satisfying to the touch, they’re well-assembled and the cabin feels essentially solid.

Undoubtedly many Turismos will be used as family transport so the interior needs to be able to stand up to a significant of abuse from inquisitive little fingers that will poke and prise at every opportunity.

SsangYong offers one of the most comprehensive warranties available with an unlimited mileage, five-year guarantee. That should help reassure buyers unfamiliar with the SsangYong brand.
