Renault is going off-road with the launch of a Renault Master 4×4 and a range of enhanced-traction vans for operators who regularly travel on challenging terrain. The new models will be available from summer 2016.

X-Track conversions

The new X-Track versions come with a limited-slip differential, raised ground clearance, underbody protection and all-weather tyres, and are available on the Renault Kangoo, Renault Trafic and Renault Master.

Renault Trafic X-Track

It complements the existing Grip Xtend technology, designed to deliver enhanced grip for occasional use on less demanding terrain like wet grass and light mud. Grip Xtend is a standard feature of Renault’s Kangoo (except ZE electric models), Trafic and Master vans in Europe.

Renault has partnered with leading 4×4 equipment manufacturer Oberaigner to also offer a 4×4 variant of the Renault Master. The German company also provides the expertise for the Mercedes-Benz 4×4 and Vauxhall Movano 4×4.

Based on the rear-wheel drive Renault Master, the 4×4 version has a switchable centre-diff lock that engages all four wheels and offers a reduced 1:1.42 gearing ratio. The system has been developed for operators who encounter particularly difficult terrain and low-grip conditions on a regular basis; like construction, forestry and utility companies.

Pricing and availability

Renault Kangoo X-Track

The X-Track versions are likely to cost an extra £1,000 to £2,000 and will be available in Europe from later in 2016. The Master 4×4 is set to be available from the summer 2016, and is expected to cost an extra £3,000 over standard variants. UK on sale dates will be announced in the coming months.
