Cargo Capacity

With double rear and twin slide-loading doors along with a full-sized steel bulkhead as standard, the iLoad is incredibly versatile. The overall payload is 1,062kg while a load length of 2,375mm and width of 1,620mm with minimal wheelarch intrusion means it is possible to carry two standard sized pallets. Overall volume is 4.3 cubic metres but as well as the standard panel van, there's a six-seat double cab model available as special-order option. This Crew Van is identical in size and has a similar payload but load volume drops to 2.3 cubic metres and the load area is shortened to just over 1.5 metres. Unlike alternative medium-sized vans however, there are no high roof or long wheelbase versions.

Safety and Security

All models come with twin airbags for the driver and passenger - unusual in this class - plus a full-size steel bulkhead as standard, stopping cargo sliding into the front. Elsewhere there are height-adjustable seatbelts with pre-tensioners, ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution and the option of ESP for £450. There's also central locking with separate buttons on the key for the cabin and load area. If you're worried about prying eyes, you can get privacy glass for the sliding side doors on crew van models, extra dark rear door glass or a vinyl cover to completely block visibility to the load area.

Costs

Compared to similar vans from the likes of Ford, Vauxhall or any of the French makes, the iLoad looks great value. True, there's not much flexibility with only one bodystyle and engine, but it's priced lower than most and comes incredibly well equipped with air conditioning, electric windows and mirrors, central locking, a CD stereo with an auxiliary plug, height adjustable steering column, twin airbags, twin sliding side doors and a full-sized bulkhead all as standard. On the majority of alternatives, these would be extras.

Reliability

The five-year or 100,000 mile warranty guarantees peace of mind and shows what confidence Hyundai has in its vehicles. The i800 - which uses the same engine - has proved faultless since it was launched. Hyundai has always had a strong reputation for engineering quality and now it has improved the handling and interiors of its vehicles to match.
