Cargo Capacity

The Vito is available with a choice of two wheelbases (3200mm and 3430mm), three vehicle lengths (compact at 4748mm, long at 4993mm and extra long at 5223mm) and two roof heights. Load capacities range from 4.65 cubic metres to 6.49 cubic metres, together with loading lengths of 2224mm and 3099mm (including the space under the front seats). The sliding side doors are wide enough to accommodate Euro pallets loaded by fork-lift. Rear doors with opening angles of 180 or 270 degrees can be specified instead of a tailgate. Lashing eyelets for securing loads along with the rail system in the cargo area is standard, and a choice of load protection grilles and partition designs are available.

Safety and Security

The Vito comes with a driver's airbag as standard as well as anti-lock brakes, emergency braking assistance, traction control and electronic stability control (ESP) which can help correct the van's line during a skid and potentially prevent accidents happening. Passenger airbags are optional (with single seat or bench-seat sizes) as well as side airbags (available in conjunction with the optional luxury seats).

Costs

The Vito is quite expensive to buy, and labour rates at Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle centres aren't cheap. However, it is a high-quality van and holds its value very well. Diesels are cheap to run.

Reliability

Any well-maintained Vito should be capable of high mileage and a long life. No major problems are expected.
