The versatile Partner range offers something for most small businesses. It comes in three payloads, two trim levels, two cargo capacities and two different body lengths (L1 and L2), ranging from 4.38 metres to 4.63 metres. Lengthier models boast a cargo capacity of 3.7 cubic metres and a payload up to 850kg. With the bench seat folded down, the versatile van can carry items up to 3.0 metres long – ideal for planks of wood and ladders – and comes with six anchor rings to fasten goods in transit. Access to the cargo area is excellent, with the rear doors opening up 180 degrees to give owners a wide load space. Partner can also be specified with one or two sliding side doors for quick access.

Partner comes with a ladder-style protector for driver safety, but Peugeot’s range of optional half-height bulkheads offer better all-round protection. For security, the cargo area can be locked independently from the front doors and buyers can also add an alarm with deadlocks as an optional extra.
Compared to the petrol unit, the diesels are much more frugal – returning 14mpg more – and should be cheaper to run. The 48.7mpg fuel consumption figure is commendable and ideal for owners looking for an affordable workhorse. All new Partners are covered by a two-year, unlimited mileage warranty, plus one year breakdown cover.
Interior components are well-assembled and the chunky plastics are robust. The rugged cargo area will cope with heavy-duty use and should age gracefully. There are plenty of optional extras to keep the Partner in good condition, including a non-slip plastic floor lining in the cabin and cargo area.
