Cargo Capacity

Not enough storage space (excluding the loading bay) to make this a practical choice for family life. In the cab, there's a glovebox and a few pockets for paperwork, but nothing significant and no where to put the weekly shop. The load area is easy to access; the rear tailgate flips down by 90 degrees and it's relatively low to the ground. Unladen loading height is 650mm. The load bed is 1,630mm long, 1,349mm wide (maximum) and the side walls are 415mm deep.

Safety and Security

Based on the Wira - a very old car. Side impact beams, but no airbags or seatbelt pre-tensioners. Has remote central locking and an alarm for security.

Costs

Fuel economy isn't impressive (unless you opt for the LPG option) and there's no diesel. Service intervals and costs are acceptable, but parts can be expensive.

Reliability

Protons tend to mechanically tough, with reliable engines and gearboxes. However, the interior plastics are cheap, scratch easily and trim can come loose. No major worries, though.
