What is miles per pound?
Fuel economy
A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test.
Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 19 - 32 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Diesels initially needed a service every 4500 miles; 5000 for petrols. The good news is that oil change service intervals were doubled to a recommended 10,000 miles in 1998 and other improvements made the Frontera easier and cheaper to service. Newer diesel manages 30mpg. Cheap Vauxhall parts and labour keep other costs down.
The old Frontera was a nightmare when it came to reliability, but loving owners will have fixed many of the problems by now. A new factory and improvements in quality control meant better build quality on later cars.
