The VXR8 hasn’t had an official score from safety governing body Euro NCAP, but it does get a decent level of kit. You get six airbags including driver and front passenger, side impact for the front occupants and side curtain airbags. Despite its image it’s also quite child-friendly with three Isofix anchor points in the rear. Finally, to avoid any mishaps from all the power the car produces you get the usual stability control but it also comes with electronic brakeforce distribution and anti-lock brakes.

With 496 litres of boot space on offer, you won’t find the car wanting when you have to go away for the weekend or load the weekly shop. It’s competitive among its rivals and has more room in the boot than an Audi S4 and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. There is one major issue though. Like the old model the rear seats can’t be folded down at all, meaning anything longer than the space on offer and you’ll have to leave it behind.

If you have something long and thin though, then the rear centre armrest can be dropped and items loaded through it. There is plenty of other storage around the rest of the cabin and you won’t have any problems finding somewhere to put your wallet or phone. The side pockets are sizeable too so you’ll be able to fit plenty of stuff in them.
