Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 43 - 46 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Priced under the Abarth 500C and most of its competitors means the Punto Evo looks a good proposition for anyone after a bit of fun at a low price. With such low volumes it should also retain its value well. With a claimed 47mpg a bit of sensible driving could pay dividends when it comes to fuel costs too.

Considering the pace and performance, the Punto Evo performs well when it comes to the ‘green’ issues with emissions of 142g/km. This means the annual tax bill is much more affordable than most rivals.

Fiat tends to perform poorly when it comes to customer satisfaction surveys but this may be different when it comes to Abarth. With a limited number of specialist dealerships and a low volume of customers, service should be better than that found at generic Fiat dealerships. While Fiat’s reputation for reliability hasn’t always been great, the company has looked to improve this and recent models like the 500 seem to have performed well when it comes to build quality.
