Both the seat and steering wheel are multi-adjustable allowing you to get into your favourite driving position without too much faffing. The Audi interior is a familiar but classy affair – the materials are of a high quality, the dash is soft to touch and the flat-bottomed leather steering wheel gives the RS4 Avant a sporty edge. The cabin is driver-focused while visibility is good from all angles.

Audi RS4 Avant comfort levels are extremely high. Not only is this car engaging for the enthusiasts it is also a comfortable tourer for those long motorway journeys. Flick the drive select system into comfort and the car feels more like a ‘normal’ estate car than some hyper greyhound straining at the leash when in dynamic mode. The pops, cracks and bangs are not for everyone but you’ll be pleased that the Audi RS4 Avant is less noisy in comfort mode and the cabin is also very well insulated.

Road, wind and tyre noise don’t intrude into the cabin too much but if you get a tad bored just flick the drive select switch back into dynamic and you’ll have the classic V8 soundtrack back to its full glory. Up front the sports seats are well bolstered and the side supports can be moved in or out to suit body size. The rear has ample room even for taller passengers thanks to the layout of this hot estate car.

Even on the 19-inch alloys that come as standard, the ride is compliant and not overly stiff but remember to turn the drive select switch to comfort to get maximum pleasure through towns or urban areas.
