How much space is there?

Being so big brings benefits – the E-Tron is a full five-seater with a flat floor, big boot and loads of interior storage spaces.

There’s plenty of space for four adults, with ample leg and knee room, and even if you have to sit on the rear middle seat, you won’t be complaining too quickly – the transmission tunnel is quite low and the seating bench itself is quite wide. There isn’t much space for feet beneath the front seats though, so taller passengers might feel a little restricted here, when they want to stretch out.

All of the E-Tron’s battery cells are sandwiched under the floor of the passenger compartment, meaning there’s minimal disruption to the amount of interior space on offer – the E-Tron is big inside.

Boot space and storage

The boot space measures 605 litres which is far superior to an equivalent Q8, and extends to 1,755 litres with the seats folded down. There’s also an area beneath the boot floor for extra bits and bobs. Handily, there’s a dedicated area underneath the bonnet to keep the charging cables stowed. 

Finally, there’s plenty of storage throughout, with a huge area in between the front seats that you can configure, while big door bins front and back also helps to keep random items in check. 

Is it easy to park?

The E-Tron is large and is quite a squeeze for average UK parking spaces. It’s not great to see out of but is absolutely peppered with parking cameras, which eases the stress of city driving.

The best aspect is the forward visibility, which is excellent despite a bulky A-pillar, but those large wheels are highly vulnerable to kerbing.

• Loads of driver assistance kit

The Audi E-Tron has side airbags, front and rear, including head airbag system and Isofix mounts on all passenger seats, which go some way to explaining how it earned its five-star Euro NCAP safety rating in 2019.

In addition there’s a wealth of driver assistance kit, including on all models:

• Audi Pre-sense Front and Basic – keeps an eye out for dangers and warns the driver, before tightening the seatbelts, and closing the windows and roof
• Lane departure warning
• Cruise control system with speed limiter
• Parking System Plus with sensors and 360-degree camera display
