  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

The TT is very stylish even though it is more common place, I still think it is iconic and a future classic; I think it conveys that the driver likes to travel in style and comfort.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Friends and neighbours all appear to love it!

Would you buy this car again and why?

I would most certainly buy this car again if I had the choice; it's so good at everything and so well made and very pretty!

What are you likely to buy next?

To be honest, I've owned a lot of cars but most were a compromise in one way or another but the TT Roadster is great and I can see me keeping it for a long time.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £11,000

When did you buy the car?

    June 2007

Did you get a good deal and why?

I bought a 2002 Nissan Primera form the same dealer and had good service approx. one year before and decided to return to them and p/x that car and my Alfa Spider and got a great deal against the TT, in fact it was well above the book prices!

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Well made and solid two seater sports car but practical to use all year round and it's quick and stylish!

    What was the dealer like?

Excellent! Internet based sales with low overheads but very in keeping their word about what they will do with regard to pre-sale work on the car - they noticed the TT was overdue a cambelt replacement so they did that and even fitted a new water pump at the same time!

  • Driving it

    What's it like to drive?

I've seen a few comments about turbo lag but I think the owners aren't identifying this properly, there is very little lag once the turbo starts to spool up at 2000rpm but at lower revs the turbo doesn't kick in until you hit that magic 2000 or so RPM - this isn't turbo lag and all turbos have a similar characteristic. The car is very quick indeed through the gears, handling is great especially in the dry with the ESP off as this give more bias to RWD on the 4WD system eliminating the understeer that the TT does suffer form a little. It's a heavy car and it feels it until the turbo kicks in but this does make it feel very solid on the road and with a 0-60 of 6.3 secs and 155mph top speed it's no slouch!

    What's it like to park?

Rear visibility is restricted with most soft top cars but the rear screen is glass and is heated and is not plastic so does not suffer the usual creases and scratches that most do. It's light to park and the mirrors are very good but be careful not to kerb those nice alloys!

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

The only fault I have had is with the dashpod cluster showing incorrect temperatures and fuel level but Audi UK are replacing this £800 part free of charge as a good will gesture to all TT's with the problem regardless of the age of the car and even after the warranty has expired - very good!

What's most practical about your car?

There is a fair amount of luggage space for this type of car, it's very easy to drive, it is good in winter with the 4WD and the seats are heated and the roof is easy to use and is well insulated.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Heated leather seats are great and the stereo is a BOSE system and sounds fantastic! The glass electric "wind stopper" behind the seats is great too.
