How much space is there?

If it’s just you or you and a partner, you’ll find the opulent surroundings of the Continental GT’s cabin a delight. The front seats are vast and hugely adjustable, and there’s tons of space for two people to stretch out.

That’s not really the case in the rear, where the seats can only really accommodate either very small children or, more likely, a set of monogrammed designer luggage that’s overflowed from the boot. For this reason it’s best to think of the Continental GT as a 2+2 rather than a full four-seater, though there is more room than you’ll find in a Porsche 911 or Aston Martin DB11.

Boot space and storage

The Continental GT’s boot measures 358 litres, which is around the size of a family hatchback’s. The saloon opening and oddly-shaped interior does limit the size of objects you can take, though it’s worth noting that there’s a wider section aft of the opening mechanism that’s capable of accommodating a set of golf clubs.

Meanwhile, the main body of the boot will take a couple of suitcases without too much of a struggle – and there’s a ski hatch for loading longer items.

Storage for odds and sods around the cabin is limited to a reasonably-sized glovebox and an underarm cubbyhole. The cupholders are large but positioned rather awkwardly far back, while the door pockets are slim.

Is it easy to park?

The Continental GT doesn’t have particularly stellar visibility so it’s good to know that a suite of cameras and sensors ought to help you keep your bumpers un-bumped.

It’s the car’s vast size that’s likely to be more of an issue – it’s nearly 2m wide, so expect supermarket car parks or multi-storeys to be tight. The car’s long doors mean getting in and out is difficult with someone parked next to you, too.

Safety

The Continental GT hasn’t been tested by Euro NCAP so it’s hard to say definitively how it could cope in an accident. However, a huge number of active and passive safety systems should help to boost its crash response – as well as help avoid it getting into one in the first place.

All cars have super-bright LED Matrix headlights, and lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition and other safety equipment is included on most models. You can even get a head-up display as well as Night Vision.
