Watch out for rear sub frame mounts on 99/00 3 series cars. BMW will fix under goodwill - but a terrible design fault.

Rear sub frame mounts failed. This is apparently a common fault on early E46 cars with the bigger engines. BMW eventually fixed for free - big job! Do not buy one unless they have been strengthened by BMW.
